CONFERENCE/CONVO – A COLOSSAL COMBINATION!

Mark your calendar for a unique and exciting event! NSTOY will be holding its annual conference in conjunction with the Kappa Delta Pi Convocation in the fall of 2011. The dates are November 3 – 5; the destination is Indianapolis. As KDP celebrates its centennial year as an educational honor society, NSTOY will be celebrating its twentieth anniversary as an honorary chapter of KDP. What better time could there be to join forces and provide an opportunity for members of both organizations to develop new relationships and grow professionally with one another?

Here’s how NSTOY members will benefit from attending the 2011 KDP Convo:

• NSTOY Special Recognition. You can’t have a gathering of teachers without pausing to recognize the best of the best. NSTOY members always enjoy a special place of prominence at the KDP Convo.
• Networking with Education Thought-Leaders. You will interact with, hear, and learn from some of the nation’s top education thought-leaders, including several KDP Laureates. Noted speakers for 2011 include Peter Reynolds, Debbie Silver, and Jason Ohler.

In exchange, here’s how NSTOY members will provide benefits for KDP members through their attendance:

• NSTOY Roundtable Sessions. Annually, this is one of the most popular and best-attended events for pre-service teachers. Participants value their one-on-one interaction with TOYs, and TOYs have an opportunity to touch the next generation of America’s teachers.
• Idea Swap. KDP’s Convo brings together educators and education experts from across the country with some of the best new ideas for your classroom. This session is a great opportunity to highlight your favorite program ideas via lively tabletop presentations.

Anna Shults, 2007 IN TOY, will be serving as NSTOY Conference Chair. She will be providing updates and announcements in the coming months, so start thinking about ways you’d like to contribute.
