Britton wrote, "I do not fully understand why I have been called to teach, but I do know that I will be able to teach a subject that I love, share my passion of learning, and possibly impact the lives of students by helping them to find their potential. Hopefully, I will make the same difference in the life of a young person that a number of teachers made in mine."

Britton served as co-captain of the soccer team in high school, participated in the drama program, and was involved in the Future Educator of America program, where he has shown his dedication to the teaching profession. One of his teachers said, "In my seventeen years of teaching, I have seldom met a young man who has impressed me as much as Britton Lane. Regardless of endeavors, his leadership skills and fantastic personality come across; he leads by example and is greatly respected by peers. Over his high school career, Britton has managed to balance all that he does with his academics, showing time and time again that he is a cut above the rest."

In awarding the scholarship, we are pleased to encourage students like Britton who show great promise as future teachers for the nation's school system. We also encourage NSTOY members to continue to recruit applicants for the scholarship awards sponsored by our organization. In this way, we truly serve the education profession, from which we have received so much.
